Welcome to my new blog. I haven't decided yet what to include here but I'm excited to have a new venture and am just willing to see where it goes. I picked today's topic because this has been coming at me lately from a lot of the people around me. In conversations my friends will say to me (something like:)
"I'm just so embarrassed..everyone is going to think I'm crazy"... or
"If I don't do that..everyone is going to think I'm just a failure"... or
"I can't do that because everyone will think I'm bragging"....
My question to all of these people is always the same "who is everyone??"
I'm flabbergasted by all of the people that are giving soooooooooo much consideration to what "everyone" is going to say, or think, or do. The first question that runs through my head.. is who tf cares what "everyone" thinks?
It's not that I'm necessarily self-confidant (in fact, I think quite the opposite), or worldly, or wise...or whatever, but it has been a very, very long time since I really cared about what "everyone" thinks. I've got a sign on my living room wall that says:
"Be who you are and say what you feel because those that mind don't matter and those that matter don't mind".-Dr. Seuss
That quote pretty much sums up how I feel about almost everything. I really don't care what "everyone" thinks and I have a very clear definition in my head as to who "everyone" is. "Everyone" is the people that matter OR the people that are affected in a real way. Period.
So next time you find yourself saying "what will everyone say?".. ask yourself.. who is everyone, do they REALLY matter, and do YOU really care?
